OMG plc, Oxford Metrics Group, the technology group providing image understanding products for the entertainment, defence, life science and engineering industries, announces the appointment of Jonathon Reeve as a Non-Executive Director with immediate effect. With more than 35 years’ experience in the Royal Navy, Jonathon will provide OMG with an in-depth understanding of the technological demands and procurement requirements for the defence industry, a key area of strategic focus for the Group.
Jonathon Reeve, aged 57, began his career in the Royal Navy in 1967. After obtaining an MA in Engineering at St Catharine’s College Cambridge he qualified as a nuclear submarine engineer in the Royal Navy and served in HM Submarines Renown and Dreadnought. Between 1994 and 1997 he worked in a variety of posts in support of the nuclear submarine flotilla, one of which was as the Head of Integrated Logistic Support for the Navy.
Jonathon became the Commander of Plymouth Naval Base in 1998, where for two years he acted as Chief Executive for the industrial port and was responsible for all aspects of support for the ships and submarines based in Plymouth. Promoted to Rear Admiral in 2000 he became Change Director at Fleet Headquarters where he was responsible for a major re-organisation of the headquarters.
In December 2000 he set up the new Warship Support Agency and from 2001 until 2004 he was Chief Operating Officer of the Royal Navy’s support organisation and Navy Board Member for Logistics. In this post he was responsible for all aspects of support to the Royal Navy worldwide as well as for the management and leadership of the Ministry of Defence’s Nuclear Accident Response Organisation.
Since he retired from the Royal Navy in late 2004 he has been working as an independent consultant assisting a number of industrial companies to increase their understanding and level of business in the defence and nuclear fields.
Jonathon was appointed a Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB) in 2003 and is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers.
There are no matters to be disclosed under paragraph (g) of Schedule 2 of the AIM Rules, save that Jonathon is a director of Virtual Properties Limited.
Commenting on the appointment, Nick Bolton, Chief Executive, said:
“We are delighted that Jonathon has joined our Board. His extensive experience in the defence industry will help further our position within this market, as well as enhancing the Board as we seek to drive OMG’s growth as a market leader in image understanding products. Building on our previously announced QinetiQ project last year and success at Farnborough Airshow this year, Jonathon joins the Company at an exciting time of growth.”
